The metal pin idea WTD has is interesting.

Looks a lot of track on the layout plans. Impressive. Any thoughts on how to clean the track?

In regards to your question about the prototype, Severn Tunnel is an ideal example where track goes down at different gradients at the eastern side which I assume is to assist trains on the upward gradient out from the tunnel.

That looks a lovely loco! When I was into GWR, the Mogul was one that I wanted but wasn't able to get. Was a case of funds only stretched so far. Welcome.

Yes, as others have said and you have found out. A good controller makes a difference which will be MUCH easier to use and a more powerful one will allow you to pull trains with locos that have the older beefier motors.

Those damned fingers of mine made this quite a painful project, but at least I got this far. I have a crew on order to complete the scene and then I can fix the cabin in place properly (don't look at the gap!)
