Must be just yours - all our local ones sell timber. Mind you, quality will vary. B&Q is a last resort for ply - lots of voids. Wickes is ok but my preference is to use Selco.

Google Timber Merchants. There must be some relatively local as where would builders and carpenters get theirs. Most of our local ones sell online and do deliver. I fortunately live on the edge of a big city so there is plenty to choose from it might be a little more difficult if you are in the sticks but not impossible. Our local supplier that I use will also cut materials at a cost although having a track saw and table saw I tend to cut my own except for the odd occasion I need to nip to the yard for a small amount and need it trimmed to fit the car and that has been free every time.Mountain Goat wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 12:47 am I know it is a silly question but where does one buy wood these days now that builders merchants don't seem to sell it?
