Post by Brian »

Hi all
Has anyone used a Hornby R7326 HM7040: Bluetooth Legacy Dongle and if so does it work as expected with non Hornby products?

Yes Brian, superb piece of kit. You will need to plug it and the track into an elite or select controller to get a compatible express net port but after that it's a doddle to use with any decoder.

The dongle is linked to the app, then each regular decoder equipped loco is listed in the engine shed and assigned to the dongle.
App commands to those locos are received by the dongle and passed to the DCC controller which signals the rails as usual.
There is no limit to the number of locos assigned to a dongle and number of dongles is limited to 6 by way of Xpressnet ports and/or use of the old Select splitter adapter, now retooled by essentially the same thing.
You still have to load function maps in the app for each regular decoder equipped loco.
