electrofrog points

laying track for DCC use.
Have 4 points all leading off to individual 4 sidings.
Do I have to place plastic rail joiners to each frog point as they all lead to a dead end.
Can I fit normal metal joiners to all point outlets leading to dead ends ?

You can use normal rail joiners if they are dead end sidings as you say.

Yes, if you are not interested in having loco lights & sounds on in the tracks that the turnouts are not set for because under "normal" DCC wiring ,all rails are fed by power so insulators would be required to prevent short circuits.

I would still fit insulated joiner to all the frog V connections, that way you can have power to the track all the time via the usual connections to the bus, otherwise as said above it would be a dead section on powered when the turnout is switched, if you had droppers connected to the bus you will get a short when the turnout is moved.

I think I will fit insulators on all frogs to prevent any shorts.

With any Electrofrog point leading into a dead end siding you have the option of.. Leaving the sidings rails unfed and allow the point to switch power towards the siding track. Or add IRJs to the points frog rails (2 IRJs) and then install rail feeds after the frog.
Which is the best option? Well DCC really needs power to all tracks, so option 2 is the best.
When IRJs are installed then additional DCC rail feeds are added to the rails after the IRJs.
If no IRJs are used, then both directions from the point cannot have any rail feeds after the point! But no DCC loco lights or sounds or loco movements will work when the sidings points is against that siding.
