DC/DCC

#1

Post by yelrow »

hi, i have a silly question. On my new layout i wish to be able to run both DC and DCC. i have 3 tracks. 2 of them have connecting points, where i have soldered across for DCC running. If i changed these each time, and only plugged into the mains, either DC, or DCC, could i then use layout for both. I intend to have points running from accessory decoders. Alternately, could Brian offer a wiring diagram, with DTDP switch. My original intention was to run 2 DCC loops and one DC, but SWIMBO, would like to see more DC running, and the only way would be as above. john

Brian, perfect thanks, but, I have 3 DC controllers, one for each track. Can you advise the extra wiring I need to add. John

I use that method at the moment. In the long term I have plans for a more elegant solution with the DC and DCC supplies contained in some sort of attractive fixture. For the switch have found a source of 'vintage' car indicator switches on eBay. These are on/off/on type switches from before the time when indicators were operated by levers on the steering column.
