Must be just yours - all our local ones sell timber. Mind you, quality will vary. B&Q is a last resort for ply - lots of voids. Wickes is ok but my preference is to use Selco.

Google Timber Merchants. There must be some relatively local as where would builders and carpenters get theirs. Most of our local ones sell online and do deliver. I fortunately live on the edge of a big city so there is plenty to choose from it might be a little more difficult if you are in the sticks but not impossible. Our local supplier that I use will also cut materials at a cost although having a track saw and table saw I tend to cut my own except for the odd occasion I need to nip to the yard for a small amount and need it trimmed to fit the car and that has been free every time.

Wickes sell reasonable timber, but you need to look at each piece to ensure it makes the requirement. B & Q timber if stored correctly and that's the main issue, is OK but again always check each piece.

I live in a medium sized town and have at least four or five timber suppliers within a 5 mile radius and one specialist in 8 miles and a futher one around 15 mile away.

Plenty in this part of the world. Why do you say builders merchants don’t sell timber. Do you have Grant and Stone.
