Retirement
Retirement
I have decided to retire my employ ends on 31st July.
I have been thinking about it for a while now and posted a question to my pension advisor in June, can my private pension pay me the same wage?
Yes was the reply after a meeting.
I know so many on here are retired and it is time for me to join you all.
My experience is in the buuilding and construction supply industry though when I walked out of school in my home town in Macclesfield at the age of 15 I started work immediately as a labourer in industrial pipe fitter in a new shopping complex in Redditch. Tis was the start on my life journey.
Let us hope the weather in August is decent, Peak Rail, Cheddleton, GCR, Butterley and Barrow Hill are on the list amongst other things to keep me occupied not forgetting the stuff to keep wifey happy!

Congratulations DTB, enjoy your retirement.
I tried it once, didn't get on with it. I found I got very bored and only lasted four years before I took a part time job. I only work four evenings a week so still get the days to do whatever I fancy and, more importantly, I still get an afternoon nap!!
Take my advice, make sure you have plenty of reasons to get out of the house and interact with the world to keep the mind active.

Re: Retirement
Congratulations on your retirement.
Be aware that now that 'you have nothing to do' there will be, "Can you do", "Collect XYZ from ---" "Do me a favour ---------" and the rest.
Thursday between 4.00pm and 4.45pm may be time to run trains (if you are lucky.)
Been there. Still there.

Re: Retirement
A couple of things, every day is a workday and you will never be busier.
Once the money thing is sorted retirement is a breeze.
Keep challenging the list - i.e. which one do you want doing first. The list is never ending, but a lot of it can be farmed out if you got the money thing right.
My list compiler usually starts with ' do you think . . .' , which when translated means I want you to do this soonest.
Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for your input, really means so much.
Brian yes I have a wifey list too!
This move hopefully will help me going forward, I have not been here much and when I have I have been an arse!
2 years ago I was shunted off the road into a field in a car accident, my claim to fame on that was I took out a Give Way sign which I bent in half and removed the concrete base along with destrying a wall. I am still waiting for my personal injury claim!
Also, like any older perosn my health has deterioted as well, diabetes, weight and high blood pressure.
I have been working on these recently obviously with the help of medications and in a better position currently. Blood pressure normal, blood suagr down a third and weight also down.
Right, thats my life story, let's move on, MG hope to enjoy my time and move on.
RAF, thanks great advice
