Wow!
That was unexpected, so many years Bachmann have been asked for a Black 5 and 8F. They have said we do not duplicate for many years but they have finally conceded to the pressure from the buyers, really or just another announcemet to irk Hornby.
I asked for a Black 5 years ago, was advised it was not pertinent to duplicate, however we have seen with the newer manufacturers, Accurascale, Rapido, Cavalex they don't care about the old gentlemans agreement and they want to forge ahead in the market with better duplicate models.
Let's go for it I say, the market is open for the buyers for quality models who have been long in the pockets of Hornby (who can only produce ER models) and Bachmann who are unable to update their current stock to DCC / DCC Sound.

Announcment Bachmann 8F
Re: Announcment Bachmann 8F
That is an incredible response from them, since they've been making stock produced by other manufacturers for ages... Sam's trains recently dedicated approx 9 minutes of a 30 minute video highlighting just how much product duplication is happening from Bachmann!

Re: Announcment Bachmann 8F
There is a pretty recent Black 5 on the market, the 8F is years old with a number of inaccuracies and the latest ones have a simplified smokebox door detail that belongs back a few decades. If Bachmann didn't do it Accurascale or Rapido probably would. Bachmann not so long back tooled up a new N gauge 8F and have previously stated they aim to tool the same models in N and OO
