Re: Hornby Collectors Club 2019
When I first heard about the discount, I checked all the paperwork I received with the Club renewal - there was no mention of the discount. I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it at all. Having said that, the discount price matches that available from other suppliers. I never put all my eggs in one basket, so have pre-orders with MRD, my other usual supplier. In fact all the "box-shifters" prices are the same give or take a penny.
Re: Hornby Collectors Club 2019
After some thought I rejoined today and the discount appeared on the shop page.
Re-ordered then cancelled my pre-orders and slipped a couple of ‘extras’ in the basket and saved £40.
Just in case of any argument when the invoices come through, I took pictures of the items ordered showing the discounted prices as insurance.
Next test will be to see if the 20% at the visitor centre has been reinstated.

Yes, just seen the same on my confirmations. I class that as a result.

"If a pricing mistake is not noticed and the customer pays for an item at the reduced cost, the purchase is considered a legally binding contract between the retailer and the customer. The shop has no legal right to claw back any money if it later realises there has been an error."
May be time to increase the pre-orders?

But isn’t payment made only when the item is ready for posting?
Having said that, Hornby have, in the past, always honoured the price at the time of the order even if the price goes up at the time the stock arrives from China.
I don’t think there will be a problem.

I posted on the Hornby Forum, that they would be foolish to withdraw the discount - if it is an error. The discounted price is the same as can be obtained from most of the box-shifters. The advantage of buying from Hornby - you get the model quicker and free P&P. I agree there will not be a problem.

My understanding is that a retailer may at his/her disgression cancel an order and make a full refund without having to offer a reason.bulleidboy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:11 pm "If a pricing mistake is not noticed and the customer pays for an item at the reduced cost, the purchase is considered a legally binding contract between the retailer and the customer. Re: Hornby Collectors Club 2019
If you have a contract, the company can't usually cancel your order, even if they realise they've sold you something at the wrong price. ... If you don't have a contract and someone realises they've told you the wrong price, they can cancel your order.
I suppose it needs the "small print - terms and conditions" to be read in detail. In pre-ordering you are committing to buy and the retailer giving you a receipt, should be construed as a form of contract. In most cases you have the right to cancel. Time will tell - I'm sure if it were a mistake Hornby would have realised by now and the site would have been amended or closed while corrections were made.
